GoVaya

Someone’s already driving there.

GoVaya connects you with drivers making the same trip, whether it’s the school run on Monday or Durban for the holidays. Post where you’re going and what you’ll pay, and drivers make you offers.

Four ways to travel

Each kind of trip has its own colour in the app, taken from the road signs you already know.

Long distance

Going home for the holidays or to Joburg for the weekend? Find a seat with a driver making the trip, or offer your empty seats. Cross-border trips too.

Work & school

Monthly lift clubs, staff transport and school runs. Parents add their children once, and the driver ticks off each pickup and drop-off so you know the moment your child is collected.

Special trips

Book a whole vehicle for a wedding, funeral, holiday or event, with stops along the way and a trip back. You agree up front who covers the driver’s meals and accommodation.

Deliveries

Fetch a parcel, collect a purchase from a shop, or move furniture with a bakkie or truck and helpers.

How it works

You agree on the price before anyone sets off.

  1. Post your trip

Say where you’re going, when, and what you’d like to pay. Suggested prices are based on the current petrol price.

  2. Get offers

Drivers going that way make offers. Accept one, or make a counter-offer.

  3. Meet your driver

See their car, number plate and reviews, chat in the app, and follow them on the map as they come to fetch you.

  4. Travel and review

Pay the driver as agreed, then rate each other so the next person knows who they’re travelling with.

Safety comes first

Everyone on GoVaya has an account, and every driver’s documents are checked by a person before they can offer lifts.

  • Drivers photograph their driver’s licence and licence disc
  • ID checks and background checks, shown as badges on each profile
  • School runs only with background-checked drivers
  • See the car and number plate before you get in
  • Both of you can see each other on the map during the trip
  • An SOS button that calls 10111 or 112, or sends your location to your emergency contact
  • Ratings, written reviews, and a way to report or block anyone

Driving anyway?

Offer your empty seats and the space in your boot, and let passengers and parcels cover your petrol and tolls.

You see what people are asking for and make your own offers. You only take the trips you want.

Sign up in the app as a driver, add your vehicle and photograph your documents. We check them, usually within a day.
