What GoVaya is

GoVaya is a platform that connects passengers, parents and senders with drivers. GoVaya is not a transport operator and does not employ the drivers. Each trip is an agreement between the people on it.

Drivers share the cost of trips they are making. Anyone who carries passengers for reward as a business, including school and staff transport, must hold the operating licence and permits the National Land Transport Act requires, and suitable insurance.

Your account

You must be 18 or older and give true details. One person, one account.

Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account.

Drivers must hold a valid driver’s licence and a licence disc for the vehicle they use, and the vehicle must be roadworthy and insured. Drivers carrying learners or staff need a background check, including a professional driving permit (PrDP) where the law requires one.

Prices and payment

The person who posts sets a price, and the other person can accept it or make an offer. The agreed price is what the passenger or sender pays the driver.

Unless the app says otherwise, payment is made directly between the people on the trip. GoVaya is not responsible for payments made outside the app.

For special trips, if the driver’s accommodation or meals are included in the price, the driver arranges them.

Rules for everyone

Be on time for the agreed pickup, or tell the other person as soon as you can if plans change.

Only the people who were booked may travel. No unregistered passengers.

Respect the other person and their property. No harassment, discrimination or threats.

Drivers must obey the rules of the road, not drive under the influence, and not carry more people than the vehicle is licensed for.

Deliveries: don’t send anything illegal, dangerous or stolen. Drivers may refuse an item that looks unsafe.

Report anything unsafe in the app. In an emergency, call 10111 or 112 first.

Cancellations

Cancel as early as you can. People who often cancel late or don’t show up may lose access to GoVaya.

Suspension

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, gives false documents, or puts others at risk.

Responsibility

We check documents and verify identities, but we can’t guarantee that every member is who they say they are or will behave well. Use your judgement and the safety tools in the app.

As far as the law allows, GoVaya is not liable for loss, damage or injury during a trip, which is the responsibility of the people on the trip and their insurers. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
